Climate Change and the Future of Forests
Uncharted Territory
We live in a time of profound change and crisis on Earth. Climate change is a significant aspect of this transformation. Global warming and the environmental crisis are among the greatest challenges humanity faces today. Scientific research has significantly advanced our understanding of the causes and consequences of these changes. The decisions we make to address this incredibly complex issue will have a crucial impact on the immediate and distant future. It’s up to us: what future scenario do we want, and what actions will we take to achieve it?
This exhibition explores the role of forests in combating climate change. Forests are indispensable as carbon sinks and biodiversity sanctuaries. They also perform key functions that keep the planet in balance. Forests provide essential goods and services for human well-being. However, they are seriously threatened on many fronts.
The exhibition is part of Project FCT-20-15850, under the Call for Grants for the Promotion of Scientific, Technological, and Innovation Culture.
In this exhibition, we engage visitors in exploring multiple forest-related themes and the contributions of diverse people and entities.
